Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety order (called an Airworthiness Directive) for all models of the DHA-3 Drover aircraft. It requires aircraft owners and operators to immediately carry out a modification to the attachments that connect the horizontal tail plane (the small wings at the back of the plane) to the aircraft fuselage.

Who it affects: Anyone who owns or operates a DHA-3 Drover series aeroplane.

What must be done: The modification must be carried out forthwith (immediately) according to one of three technical engineering documents:

DH Modification DRO 80; or
DH Technical News Sheet CT(A3) No. 86; or
Air Navigation Order 105.1.14.14.5.8

Why it matters: This is a safety-critical fix. The horizontal tail plane controls the aircraft's pitch (up and down movement). If the attachments fail, the pilot could lose control of the aircraft.
