Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This Airworthiness Directive (a legally binding safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority) requires immediate modification of the wing engine mount cross brace tube on DHA-3 Drover aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of all DHA-3 (Drover) model aircraft that have wing engine mounts fitted with cross brace tube end plates made of SWG (Standard Wire Gauge) material at the forward end.

What must be done: The aircraft must be modified in accordance with technical specifications set out in either:

DH TNS CT(A3) No. 22; or
ANO 105.1.14.14.5.4

When: Immediately ('forthwith'). This means before the aircraft flies again.

Why it matters: This modification addresses a structural safety issue with the engine mount. The SWG material end plates likely pose an airworthiness risk (such as fatigue, cracking, or inadequate strength), requiring immediate rectification to prevent potential engine mount failure and ensure flight safety.
