Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires operators of DH114 (Heron) series aeroplanes to inspect the wing-to-fuselage lower main root joints for corrosion, fretting and cracking in accordance with Hawker Siddeley Technical News Sheet Heron (114) No. W.9, Issue 5. It applies to all models. Operators must pay for and perform the inspections; the directive allows alternative non‑destructive inspection methods (fluorescent magnetic particle and a DoT eddy‑current technique) and accepts certain prior inspections as equivalent, which affects choice of technique and inspection cost.
