Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a safety directive requiring all de Havilland DH 82 Tiger Moth aircraft (a vintage biplane still used for recreational flying and training) to upgrade their seat restraints from basic belts to proper safety harnesses.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of all DH 82 Tiger Moth models.

What must be done: Each aircraft must be modified to fit safety harnesses. The installation must follow a specific scheme that has been approved by the Secretary (the relevant government authority responsible for aviation safety). Technical guidance for designing these schemes can be found in Airworthiness Advisory Circular No. 62 from March 1972.

When: This modification had to be completed before 1 January 1974, unless it was already done earlier.
