AD/DAUPHIN/83 Amdt 2 - Tail Rotor Gearbox Oil Level and Pitch Control Rod Bearing - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous Australian aviation safety rule affecting Eurocopter Dauphin helicopters.

What it cancels: Airworthiness Directive AD/DAUPHIN/83 Amdt 2, which previously required operators to check the tail rotor gearbox oil levels and pitch control rod bearings on Eurocopter SA 360 and SA 365 helicopter series.

What replaces it: Instead of following the Australian rule, operators must now comply with EASA AD 2009-0247 — a European airworthiness directive (a mandatory safety notice issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency) that covers the same technical requirements. This change aligns Australian requirements with European regulations under the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.

Who is affected: Owners and operators of Eurocopter Dauphin (SA 360 and SA 365) series helicopters, as well as maintenance organisations servicing these aircraft.

When it applies: The cancellation took effect on 27 November 2009. From this date, compliance with the European directive satisfies the regulatory requirements.
