Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory directive requires owners/operators of Eurocopter/Aerospatiale Dauphin helicopters (SA 360C, SA 361, SA 365C/C1/C2/C3) to inspect the internal surfaces of the tail-rotor gearbox mounting tripod per Aerospatiale Mandatory Service Bulletin 01.23 and apply a corrosion-protective treatment.

Deadlines depend on time-in-service with repeat inspections every 2,400 flight hours (and after unscheduled removals); the work prevents corrosion that could weaken the tripod and risk loss of tail-rotor directional control.
