Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires operators of specified General Electric CT58/T58 engines (particular serial-number ranges and starter models) to fit a designated front-frame drive pinion bearing and, for GE starter models 2CM270D3/2CM270D5, install a new field-winding assembly and mark the starter nameplate. Compliance must be completed within 14 days of the AD’s effective date (8 July 2004). The AD aims to prevent starter driveshaft bearing failure that can cause engine power loss; operators are responsible for carrying out and paying for the modifications.
