Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires owners/operators of Bellanca (Champion/Aeronca) 7AC, 7BCM and 11AC aircraft with metal gascolator bowls to inspect, remove and clean the gascolator bowl and strainer to remove water and debris, and to use a quick‑drain where fitted. Compliance intervals are every 25 flight hours for bowls without a quick‑drain and at each annual inspection for bowls with a quick‑drain; pre‑flight use of the quick‑drain is also required.

Issued under CASR by a CASA delegate, the rule makes operators responsible for recurring inspection, cleaning and associated labour and parts costs and a small change to pre‑flight/maintenance routines.

Requirement: 1. If the aircraft is equipped with a metal gascolator bowl that does not have a built in quick-drain arrangement:

(a) Slowly rock the wings of the aircraft in accordance with Bellanca (Champion/Aeronca) supplement to "Service Helps and Hints", Nos. 15 and 18, reissued July 1, 1964, so that water lying in the fuel tank can settle into the gascolator bowl.
