Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of CFM56-2C, -3 and -5 series engines fitted with main fuel pumps that have solid bronze bearings to replace those pumps with ones using bi-metal aluminium/bronze bearings, following the listed CFM service bulletins. It also bans installation of bronze-bearing main fuel pumps from the effective date. Aircraft operators and maintenance organisations pay for and schedule the replacements; CASA enforces compliance and sets the timing options (next shop visit, next pump replacement, or by 1 Jan 2007).
