Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of specified CFM56‑7B turbofan engines to carry out the torque checks and corrective actions for the PS3 pressure‑line fittings as set out in FAA AD 2001‑02‑12. It applies to engines in defined serial‑number ranges and must be completed within 25 days of the directive’s 10 April 2002 effective date.

Mechanically, the AD imports the FAA instructions; operators bear inspection and repair costs, must schedule prompt maintenance to avoid possible engine power loss, and comply under CASA’s regulatory authority.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 April 2002.

Background: FAA AD 2001-02-12 indicates that affected engines may have PS3 pressure line fittings that are incorrectly torque loaded. This Directive therefore requires actions contained in the FAA AD to be followed to ensure the fittings on the PS3 pressure line are correctly torque loaded to prevent the possibility of engine power loss.
