AD/CF34/5 Amdt 3 - Fan Disks - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially scraps an earlier Australian aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive AD/CF34/5 Amendment 3) that required maintenance or inspections of fan disks on General Electric CF34 jet engines.

Who it affects: Aircraft owners and operators using General Electric CF34 series turbine engines (typically fitted to regional passenger jets).

Why it matters: The Australian rule is being cancelled because the American aviation safety regulator (the FAA) issued a new, updated safety directive in January 2010 that replaces the older American rule this Australian directive was based on. Rather than keeping an outdated requirement, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority cancelled the Australian rule entirely. Operators must now comply with the new American directive (FAA AD 2009-26-09) instead of this cancelled Australian rule.
