AD/CF34/16 - FADEC Software Version 8Ev5.40 - CANCELLED

What this does: This document cancels a previous aircraft safety rule.

The backstory: The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) had previously issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — essentially a mandatory safety fix — requiring specific software updates (FADEC Software Version 8Ev5.40) for General Electric CF34 turbine engines commonly used in regional aircraft.

What changed: CASA cancelled its own directive because the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a replacement safety directive (AD 2009-24-06) that covers the same issue. Under Australian regulations (CASR 39.001A), FAA directives issued after 1 October 2009 are automatically recognised as binding in Australia, making the local directive redundant.

Who is affected: Aircraft owners and operators with General Electric CF34 series engines. They must now follow the FAA directive instead of this cancelled Australian directive.
