Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires Cessna 550 aeroplanes fitted with a drag‑chute to have the canister lid marked: “DRAG CHUTE CANISTER LID - DO NOT SEAL EDGE” in letters at least 13 mm high with a red border, applied as a placard or painted. Compliance is required before the next Maintenance Release after 31 August 1990. The AD was issued after an incident where sealant around the lid prevented chute deployment and shifts a small compliance cost to operators/maintainers while creating a clear inspection cue.
