Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety inspection order (called an Airworthiness Directive) for specific Cessna business jets.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 500 and 501 Citation aircraft with serial numbers 001 through 0667.

What it requires: You must inspect the elevator and rudder trim systems to check for two specific manufacturing/installation defects:

Trim tab stop blocks that were installed incorrectly or not tightened to the correct torque (tightness specification)
Chain guards on the trim tab actuators that were fitted incorrectly

When to comply: Within 100 hours of flying time after 30 November 1983, or at the next scheduled maintenance check after that date—whichever comes later.

Why it matters: Incorrectly installed trim system components could affect the aircraft's flight controls, potentially compromising the pilot's ability to control the aircraft safely during flight.
