Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive mandates a safety inspection for specific Cessna aircraft models (402, 404, 414, and 421 with certain serial numbers).

What it requires: Owners must inspect the elevator quadrant cable guard screws within 50 hours of flight time after 27 November 1980.

Why it matters: The inspection ensures there is proper clearance between a screw and the elevator quadrant (the mechanism that controls the plane's up-and-down movement). Without this check, the screw could interfere with the elevator controls, potentially causing a loss of control.

Who it affects: Operators of specific Cessna 400-series aircraft with serial numbers in the ranges specified (covering models 402B, 404, 414, 414A, 421B, and 421C).
