Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This Airworthiness Directive mandates that owners and operators of specific Cessna 441 aircraft inspect the main landing gear tyres for adequate clearance within the wheel well.

Who it affects: Only Cessna Model 441 aircraft with serial numbers 441-0001 through 441-0143 and 441-0145 through 441-0148 (note: the document contains a typo listing "411-0145" but contextually refers to the 441 series).

Why it matters: Similar aircraft in the 400 series have experienced main landing gear jamming caused by insufficient tyre clearance in the wheel well opening — a potentially catastrophic failure during landing or takeoff. The directive requires compliance with specific Cessna Service Information Letters (PJ80-9 and PJ80-9A) to ensure proper clearance and prevent gear failure.
