Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) requiring specific Cessna aircraft owners to modify the tail section of their planes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of specific twin-engine Cessna models (401, 411, 402, 404, 414, 421, and 441 series) with particular serial numbers—essentially older aircraft manufactured before certain dates.

What you must do: Inspect and modify the fuselage tailcone structure (the rear section of the aircraft body) following the technical instructions in Cessna Service Letter ME78-24. This work must be completed within 100 hours of flying time after 30 November 1978.

Why it matters: This prevents potential structural failures in the tail section that could compromise flight safety.
