Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive imposes a mandatory safety inspection on specific Cessna twin-engine aircraft to prevent fuel leaks. Who is affected: Owners and operators of Cessna 401 and 402 models with serial numbers below 401-0135 and 402-0135, specifically those fitted with turbocharger cooling duct part number S1053E20T and fuel line part number 5200106-55. What is required: Through access panel 43, visually inspect the fuel line for chafing (wear damage caused by rubbing) where it contacts the flexible cooling duct. If any wear is found, repair it and realign the duct to ensure adequate clearance between the components. Why it matters: Rubbing between the fuel line and cooling duct can wear through the fuel line wall, creating a serious risk of fuel leakage and potential fire. This directive ensures a specific mechanical interference defect is identified and rectified before it compromises flight safety.
