Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety direction (called an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

What it requires: Owners of certain Cessna aircraft must modify the insulation around the flap switches to prevent electrical hazards.

Who is affected: Anyone who owns or operates a Cessna 411 aeroplane with a serial number below 411-0226.

Deadline: The work had to be finished before 1 September 1971.

How to comply: Follow the instructions in either Cessna Service Letter 66-56 or the older DCA/CESSNA 411/2 document, which detail exactly how to install the new insulation.

Why it matters: Faulty insulation on flap switches can cause electrical shorts or fires. This rule ensures specific high-risk aircraft were fixed before the deadline.
