Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety inspection rule for specific Cessna aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 340 aeroplanes with serial numbers 340-0001 through 340-0370 (early production models).

What it requires: You must complete an inspection of the main landing gear down lock pin and set screw within 100 flight hours after 31 August 1976. The inspection must follow the procedures in Cessna Service Letter ME76-4.

Why it matters: This directive addresses a potential mechanical defect in the landing gear locking mechanism. A faulty down lock pin could cause the main landing gear to collapse during landing.
