Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety instruction for owners of Cessna 337 aircraft (twin-engine planes with a distinctive twin-tail design).

The fix: Install small 3 amp fuses in the wiring that controls the alternators (the generators that keep the battery charged).

For older aircraft (serial numbers 0576–0978): Install fuses between the alternator and the master power switch.
For newer aircraft (serial numbers 0979 onwards): Install fuses between the alternator and the alternator switch.

Additional requirement: Test the charging system and adjust the voltage controls to ensure they're working within safe limits, following the aircraft maker's manual.

Who must comply: Anyone operating these aircraft.

Deadline: This had to be completed within 200 flight hours after 31 May 1971.

Why it matters: Without these fuses, electrical faults in the alternator control wiring could cause fires or total electrical failure during flight.
