Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a compulsory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority under the Civil Aviation Regulations. Think of it as a formal notice telling aircraft owners they must fix or modify their planes to meet safety standards.

What it requires: If you own or operate a Cessna 320F aircraft, you must fit an approved safety harness (or a combined lap belt and shoulder strap) to both the pilot's and co-pilot's seats.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of all Cessna 320F model aeroplanes.

Why it matters: This rule was made to protect pilots during accidents by ensuring they have proper upper-body restraint. The deadline to comply was 1 September 1971, so any Cessna 320F flying today should already have these harnesses installed.
