Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety inspection rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for specific Cessna aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 320E model aeroplanes with serial numbers between 320E0021 and 320E0101 (approximately 81 aircraft).

What it requires: You must inspect the fin spar attachment bolts — these are the bolts that hold the tail fin (the vertical stabiliser at the back of the plane) to the fuselage. The inspection ensures these critical structural bolts are not damaged or loose.

When to comply: Within 100 hours of flight time ("time in service") starting from 30 November 1967.

Why it matters: This prevents potential structural failure of the tail section, which could lead to loss of control of the aircraft. The directive references Cessna Service Letter No. 67-45 for the specific inspection procedure.
