Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (AD) — essentially a compulsory safety recall for aircraft. These are legally binding orders issued under aviation safety laws.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 310R aircraft with serial numbers 310R0001 through 310R0816 (early production models).

What must be done: The nose wheel well (the compartment where the front landing gear retracts) must be modified according to Cessna Service Letter SL ME77-12. This work had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 31 July 1977.

Why it matters: ADs are not optional maintenance suggestions. An aircraft that hasn't complied with an applicable AD is legally unairworthy and cannot be flown. This directive addresses a specific structural or mechanical issue in the nose gear assembly that could compromise safety.
