Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Think of it as a compulsory recall notice for aircraft.

What it requires: Owners or operators of specific Cessna 310R aeroplanes must inspect the engine mounts and replace them if necessary. This must be done within the next 25 hours of flight time after 30 March 1977.

Who it affects: Only applies to Cessna 310R models with serial numbers between 310R0501 and 310R0692 (approximately 192 aircraft).

Why it matters: Engine mounts hold the engine to the airframe. If they fail, the engine could detach during flight. This directive addresses a specific safety defect identified by the manufacturer in Service Letter ME77-4.

The fine print: Compliance is based on "time in service" (actual flying hours), not calendar time.
