Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This directive mandates a one-time inspection of the bolts that attach the vertical tail fin (the upright part at the back of the aircraft) to the fuselage on specific Cessna 310 aeroplanes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of:

Cessna 310K models with serial numbers 310K-0235 through 310K-0245
Cessna 310L models with serial numbers 310L-0001 through 310L-0140

What must be done: The fin spar attachment bolts must be inspected within 100 hours of flight time after 30 November 1967, following the procedures in Cessna Service Letter No. 67-45.

Why it matters: This inspection prevents potential catastrophic failure of the tail section. If these bolts crack or fail, the vertical fin could separate from the aircraft during flight, causing loss of control.
