Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requiring a specific mechanical fix on certain aircraft.

What it requires: Owners or operators of Cessna 210 series aeroplanes with serial numbers below 21058715 must modify the elevator tab actuator — the mechanism that adjusts the small hinged flap (trim tab) on the tail's elevator. This trim tab helps control whether the plane pitches up or down and reduces the force the pilot needs to apply on the controls.

How to comply: Aircraft must be modified according to instructions in Cessna Service Letter 65-76 before 1 September 1971.

Why it matters: Airworthiness Directives are legally binding safety-critical orders. Non-compliance grounds the aircraft — it cannot legally fly until the modification is complete.
