Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This is a mandatory safety instruction (an Airworthiness Directive) for owners of specific Cessna 210 aircraft. It requires inspection of turnbuckles (the metal fittings that tighten the wires controlling the plane's flight surfaces) within 100 hours of flying time after 30 April 1980.

Why it matters: Some brass turnbuckles (part number AN 155) in these planes can develop lengthways cracks starting from the ends, which could lead to control system failure.

Who it affects: Cessna 210 and P210 models with serial numbers 21061697 through 21063605, and P2100001 through P2100362.

What you must do: Inspect the flying control system turnbuckles according to Cessna Service Information Letter SE 80-16.
