Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires owners/operators of specified Cessna 208/208A/208B serial-numbered aircraft to inspect the flap bellcrank and replace it if cracked, deformed, or improperly welded, following Cessna Service Bulletin CAB 89‑34. The first inspection was due within 50 hours’ time in service after 11 April 1990, and defects must be rectified before further flight.

It responds to reported bellcrank failures from incomplete welding; compliance imposes inspection, repair costs and possible downtime on operators while aiming to prevent sudden flap retraction.
