Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety notice from the aviation regulator) requires owners of specific Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft to replace a faulty part.

Who it affects: Owners of Cessna 208 and 208A aircraft (serial numbers 20800001 to 20800129) and 208B aircraft (serial numbers 208B0001 to 208B0083).

What you must do: Replace the existing door lock pins with strengthened versions. You must follow the technical instructions in the manufacturer's Service Bulletin CAB 89-3 (a detailed repair guide from Cessna).

When: Complete the replacement either:

Within 100 hours of flying time after 20 April 1989, or
At the next scheduled maintenance check after that date,

whichever happens later.

Why: The original door lock pins could malfunction, potentially causing the door latch to fail. The upgraded pins prevent this safety defect.
