Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) issued by Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority under the Civil Aviation Regulations.

What it requires: Owners and operators of specific Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft (serial numbers 20800001 through 20800106) must modify the fuel reservoir tank to prevent the flapper check valves from bumping into surrounding hardware and fuel lines. This modification must be done exactly as described in Cessna Service Bulletin No. CAB 87-13.

Who it affects: Anyone operating the early production Cessna 208 and 208A models listed above.

When it had to be done: Before the aircraft's next Maintenance Release (a formal document certifying an aircraft is airworthy) issued after 28 February 1988.

Why it matters: Contact between the flapper valves and surrounding components could damage the fuel system, potentially leading to fuel leaks or engine failure.
