Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority) requires owners and operators of Cessna 207 series aircraft to upgrade the front seat restraint systems.

What it does:

Mandates the installation of proper safety harnesses (shoulder and lap belts) in the front seats of all Cessna 207 models
The modification must follow a design scheme approved by the Secretary (the senior government official responsible for aviation safety at the time)

Who it affects:

Owners, operators, and maintainers of Cessna 207 series aeroplanes

Compliance deadline:

The modifications had to be completed before 1 September 1972

Why it matters: This directive addresses crashworthiness and turbulence safety. Proper safety harnesses significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or death compared to simple lap belts, keeping pilots and front passengers securely restrained during accidents, hard landings, or severe turbulence.
