Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this means: This is a mandatory safety order (called an Airworthiness Directive) for owners and operators of specific Cessna 207 aircraft.

The problem: Certain brass turnbuckles (adjustable connectors) in the flight control system may develop cracks running lengthwise from their ends. This could potentially lead to failure of the flight controls.

Who must comply: Anyone operating a Cessna 207 aircraft with serial numbers between 2070374 and 2070563.

What you must do: Follow the instructions in Cessna Service Information Letter No. SE 80-16. This must be done within 100 hours of flight time after 30 April 1980.

Why it matters: Flight control turnbuckles are critical components that keep the pilot's controls connected to the aircraft's wings and tail. Cracks in these parts could cause a loss of control, so this directive mandates inspection and replacement of the faulty parts.
