AD/CESSNA 206/7 - Control Systems - CANCELLED

What this does: This document officially cancels an old aircraft safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that applied to Cessna 206 series aeroplanes.

The old rule: In 1970, Australia's aviation safety authority required owners to replace specific lock nuts (called NAS 679 nuts) installed on these aircraft between April and November 1969. The nuts were suspected of having a manufacturing defect that could affect control systems.

Why it matters now: As of 14 February 2008, this maintenance requirement no longer applies. The authority determined that after 38 years, all of the faulty nuts would have been replaced during normal maintenance, meaning the unsafe condition no longer exists.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 206 series aircraft previously subject to the 1970 directive. They are no longer legally required to comply with this specific replacement rule.
