Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires owners of specific Cessna 206 aircraft to relocate the engine temperature sensor. Currently, the sensor monitors cylinder No. 1, but testing showed cylinder No. 3 runs hottest and should be monitored instead to prevent engine damage.

Who it affects: Owners of Cessna Model U206 aircraft with serial numbers U20604650 through U20606365, except for 30 specific serial numbers listed in the directive.

What you must do: Follow the instructions in Cessna Service Information Letter No. SE82-18 to address the temperature probe location.

When: Within 100 hours of flight time after 31 August 1982.

Why it matters: If the temperature probe stays on the wrong cylinder, pilots won't get accurate warnings about engine overheating, which could lead to serious engine damage or failure during flight.
