Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does This airworthiness directive mandates safety inspections and modifications for specific Cessna aircraft to prevent fires or explosions. It requires owners to follow a specific service bulletin (Flint Aero Service Bulletin FA1) to fix a dangerous design flaw where fuel could leak onto high-voltage electrical components.

Who it affects Owners and operators of Cessna 206 aircraft (models 206 through TU206G) that have aftermarket Flint Aero wing tip fuel tanks installed (specifically Model FA200 under Supplemental Type Certificate SA2479 WE).

What must be done Aircraft operators must complete the inspections and modifications described in Flint Aero Service Bulletin No. FA1 within 100 hours of flight time after 31 July 1981.

Why it matters Without these fixes, fuel spillage or tank leaks could reach high-voltage strobe light wiring, power supplies, or hot components—creating ignition sources that could spark fires or explosions in the wing tips.

Requirement: Action in accordance with Flint Aero Service Bulletin No. FA1. Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 31 July 1981.
