Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: A safety directive (called an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for owners and operators of specific Cessna 206 aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 206 model aircraft with serial numbers between 20603641 and 20605253.

What it requires: You must inspect the flight control system for cracked turnbuckles (specifically AN 155 brass ones). You need to follow the instructions in Cessna Service Information Letter SE 80-16 to perform the required actions.

Why it matters: Some of these brass turnbuckles have been found with longitudinal cracks (splits running lengthwise) radiating from the end of the component. This could compromise the flight control system and create a serious safety risk.

When to comply: The inspection and any necessary repairs must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 30 April 1980.
