Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive (a mandatory safety order) requires owners of specific Cessna 206 aircraft to fix a manufacturing defect in the fuel tank filler neck.

Who is affected Owners of Cessna Model U206 aircraft with serial numbers U20604650 to U20604840 (specific 1979 production models).

What must be done Inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank filler neck assembly following the manufacturer's instructions in Cessna Service Information Letter (SIL) No. SE79-33. This ensures the neck is the correct length.

Why this matters The filler neck acts as a fuel level indicator. Some aircraft were built with incorrectly sized necks, causing the fuel gauges to give false readings. Because pilots rely on these readings to calculate fuel reserves for flights, wrong measurements could lead to fuel exhaustion and engine failure mid-flight.

Compliance deadline Within 100 hours of 'time in service' (total flight hours) after 30 September 1979.
