AD/CESSNA 206/25 - Fuel Vent Tube - CANCELLED

What this does This document officially cancels Airworthiness Directive (AD) number AD/CESSNA 206/25, effective 14 February 2008.

The backstory

• In 1978, aviation safety regulators issued a directive requiring inspection of fuel vent tubes on certain Cessna 206 series aircraft
• The manufacturer had identified that some planes left the factory with incorrectly installed fuel vent tubes (a component that allows air into the fuel tank to prevent vacuum lock)
• This was a uniquely Australian requirement, not adopted from overseas regulators

Why cancel it now? After nearly 30 years, all affected aircraft have been inspected and any defects corrected. The unsafe condition no longer exists in the Australian fleet.

Who is affected Owners and operators of Cessna 206 series aircraft. They are no longer legally required to perform the specific fuel vent tube inspections mandated by the original 1978 directive.
