Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This AD requires owners/operators of Cessna 188 (Agwagon) aeroplanes (serials 188-0001 through 188-03046) to disable or otherwise protect the cigar‑lighter wiring in the aircraft electrical system to address an unsafe condition.

Compliance must occur by the next annual inspection or within 100 flight hours or 12 months (whichever is first). The CASA delegate issues the requirement; costs and work to inspect, modify, or remove the wiring fall to the aircraft owner/operator.

AD/CESSNA 188/45 Cigar Lighter Wiring 3/2003

Applicability: Model 188 series aeroplanes with serial numbers 188-0001 through 188-0572 and 18800573 through 18803046.

Requirement: If not previously accomplished; disconnect the wire, at the ammeter or at the electrical system bus as applicable, that connects the bus to the cigar lighter receptacle. (The wire is connected to either the bus side or equipment side of a circuit breaker or to the ammeter). Following the disconnection of this wire either:
