Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive mandates urgent safety repairs for specific Cessna agricultural aircraft to prevent catastrophic control system failure.

What it requires Owners must inspect and replace faulty brass turnbuckles (adjustable connectors that tension the control cables) in the flight control system. The work must strictly follow the procedures outlined in Cessna Service Information Letter SE 80-16.

Who is affected Owners and operators of Cessna 188 "Agwagon" model aircraft with serial numbers between 18802851 and 18803522.

Deadline for compliance The repairs must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 30 April 1980.

Why this matters The AN 155 brass turnbuckles may develop longitudinal cracks radiating from the ends. These cracks could cause the turnbuckles to fail in flight, potentially resulting in complete loss of aircraft control.
