Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety order for specific Cessna 188 "Agwagon" agricultural aircraft (crop-dusters). It requires owners to inspect and fix wear-and-tear damage to bolt holes in the wing structure where equipment booms attach.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 188 model aircraft with serial numbers between 18801178 and 18802057.

The safety issue: The bolt holes in the front spar (a main structural beam running through the wing) can wear out during use, becoming elongated or oversized. This structural weakness could compromise flight safety.

What must be done: Aircraft operators must follow the repair instructions in Cessna Service Information Letter No. SE80-18 within 100 hours of flying time after 30 April 1980.
