| Background: | Aileron system design improvements were introduced to reduce Agwagon aileron cable wear. This involved re-routing of cables and/or installation of centreline idler pulleys on certain aeroplanes. The routine inspections call for the installation of Service Kits to modify the system if premature wear is experienced at fuselage fairlead locations. Time intervals for inspections and replacement of cables were established to ensure integrity of the lateral control system. This amendment aligns the AD requirements and time limits for inspections and cable replacement with that of the FAA AD. Aileron cables are expected to wear beyond limits before the reaching the mandatory 500 hour life limit. |
