AD/CESSNA 188/2 - Control Column Bearing Blocks and Bobweight - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels an outdated aviation safety rule affecting Cessna 188 Agwagon aircraft (agricultural aeroplanes commonly used for crop dusting).

What the old rule required: Originally issued in 1967, the directive required owners to modify the aileron control system (the controls that make the plane bank and turn) using a specific Cessna Service Kit (SK188-5). The goal was to improve lateral stability (keeping the plane level and preventing unwanted rolling movements).

Why it is being cancelled: The original rule demanded compliance "forthwith" (immediately) back in 1967. Because all affected aircraft would have been modified decades ago, the requirement is now obsolete. This document formally removes it from the aviation safety regulations as of 31 July 2008.

Who is affected: While technically relevant to owners and operators of Cessna 188 series planes, this cancellation is largely administrative housekeeping since the physical safety work was completed long ago.
