Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a mandatory safety instruction (called an Airworthiness Directive) for owners and operators of specific Cessna 188 Agwagon aircraft — single-engine planes commonly used for crop-dusting and agricultural work.

Does this affect you? Only if your aircraft has:

Serial numbers between 18800573 and 18801216
A Continental IO-520 engine
Hydraulic systems
Wing-mounted fuel tanks

What you must do: Follow the manufacturer's technical instructions in Cessna Service Letter SL SE 73-11, Item No. 2 regarding the fuel line. This typically means inspecting or replacing a specific fuel line to prevent failure.

When: Within 100 hours of flight time after 31 July 1973.

Why it matters: Faulty fuel lines can leak or fail, causing engine stoppage or fires. This rule ensures potentially defective fuel lines are identified and fixed before they cause accidents.
