Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Cessna 185 aeroplanes in the agricultural category to carry out visual inspections for cracking around the wing lift‑strut cutouts, the main spar lower flange (front and rear faces) near the lift‑strut attachment, and especially around spar‑to‑skin rivets. The areas must be cleaned before inspection. The regulator (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) mandates the first inspection before 4,000 hours on the wings and then every 100 hours thereafter, shifting inspection costs and labour to operators.
