Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

Owners of Cessna 185s specified in Cessna Service Information Letter SE84-4 must install a cockpit placard reading “Refer Flight Manual for special fuel/water drain procedures.” It’s intended to remind pilots to follow fuel/water drainage steps because water contamination from rain, snow, or unfiltered refueling can cause engine failure.

The placard must be fitted before any flight after 31 December 1985; a qualified pilot may sign off initial installation, and a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer must verify it at the next inspection.
