AD/CESSNA 185/17 - Front Seat Restraint Installations - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels an old aviation safety rule (Airworthiness Directive 1971) that required shoulder harnesses (upper torso restraints) to be installed in the front seats of Cessna 185 aircraft built before 1967.

What it does:

• Cancels the previous directive effective 17 January 2008
• Removes the specific requirement for Cessna 185 owners to install these restraints under this particular rule
• Redirects compliance to a newer, general safety directive (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that covers this requirement instead

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Cessna 185 series aircraft.

Why it matters: The old rule is no longer needed because a broader, updated safety standard now applies to all aircraft, making this specific directive redundant.
