Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this means for aircraft owners: If you operate a Cessna 185 with serial numbers 185-0968 and onwards, fitted with a Continental IO-520-D (300 HP) engine, you must take specific action regarding the carburettor air box shaft.

The practical details:

Who is affected: Owners and operators of specific Cessna 185 models with the Continental IO-520-D engine
What you must do: Carry out the actions specified in Cessna Service Letter No. SE68-28 (a manufacturer technical bulletin)
When: Within 100 hours of 'time in service' (flight hours) after 17 March 1969

Why this matters: This Airworthiness Directive (AD) mandates a safety inspection or modification to prevent potential failure of the carburettor air box shaft. While the original compliance date dates back to 1969, this amendment ensures the directive remains current and enforceable for these aircraft, which may still be flying today as vintage or working aircraft.
