AD/CESSNA 180/54 - Fuel Vent Tube - CANCELLED

This document cancels an old aviation safety requirement for specific Cessna and Wren aircraft.

What this does This officially cancels (terminates) Airworthiness Directive AD/CESSNA 180/54 effective 14 February 2008.

Background In 1978, aviation safety authorities required owners of certain Cessna 180, 182, and Wren 460 series aeroplanes to inspect their fuel vent tubes. The manufacturer had indicated that some aircraft left the factory with these tubes installed incorrectly, which could create a safety risk.

Why it's being cancelled Nearly 30 years later, all affected aircraft have undergone the required inspection. The unsafe condition no longer exists because every plane that needed checking has been checked. The rule is no longer necessary.

Who is affected Owners and operators of Cessna 180, 182, and Wren 460 series aircraft who were previously subject to the 1978 inspection requirement. No further action is now required.
